faqs

  • No. The goal of Clovis East Air Force Junior ROTC is not to be a recruiting program, but rather to build better citizens for America and give students college and career opportunities other programs may not give.

  • No. The only requirement from Clovis East AFJROTC is that cadets participate in activities during class time such as wearing the correct uniform on block days and Fridays and participating in class work. All after-school activities are optional and recommended for cadets to enjoy their experience at AFJROTC even more.

  • All cadets must meet AFJROTC hair standards and wear their PT uniforms on block days (Wednesday/Thursday) and their AFJROTC uniforms on Fridays. Also upholding at least a 2.0 GPA is necessary for cadets to stay in the program.

  • Yes. There are many college and career opportunities that cadets can earn from AFJROTC.

On the college side, cadets can apply for a J100 scholarship which is only given to AFJROTC cadets throughout the world. AFJROTC also gives opportunities for cadets to train and compete to enter any of the academies across the US (Air Force Academy, West Point, etc.). In 2021, we sent our first cadet (Marisela Molina) to Colorado Springs, CO to join the Air Force Academy. We also help students with progression into college ROTC programs where they can earn full-ride scholarships and earn their bachelor’s degree.

We also have opportunities for cadets after school in the career sense. If cadets are 17 years old before July, they can apply for a private pilot’s license program. If they are accepted, they can go to one of many colleges for 6 weeks and gain their private pilot’s license within a summer. In terms of military service, AFJROTC can provide you an advanced grade after you finish basic training if you decide to enlist. 2 years in the AFJROTC can advance you by one rank while 4 years can advance you by two ranks.

The opportunities from this program are endless, even after high school.
